Inflation tops voter concerns as Greeks react to PM’s pledges and Tsipras speculation
Inflation remains the leading concern for Greek citizens, cited by 56.6% of respondents in a new Opinion Poll survey conducted for Action24, as economic pressures shape public opinion on recent government announcements and potential political shifts.
The survey measured reactions to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ pledges at the Thessaloniki International Fair, with 53% expressing at least some satisfaction. Key measures—such as VAT reductions on remote islands and tax incentives for young people—were positively received by around two-thirds of those surveyed, though only one in three expect personal financial benefit.
Beyond inflation, top concerns include economic growth (30%) and the public health system (14%), followed by issues such as justice, corruption, energy costs, and low wages.
In terms of voting intentions, New Democracy leads with 22.6%, followed by PASOK (10.4%), Course of Freedom (8.7%), and Greek Solution (8.5%). SYRIZA has fallen to just 3.1%.
Notably, 31.8% of respondents said no current leader is suitable for prime minister, while Mitsotakis was preferred by 27.9%. PASOK’s performance as the main opposition was viewed unfavorably by 61.6% of respondents.
Amid speculation about Alexis Tsipras forming a new political party, 63.5% said they would never support such a move.
