Independent MP Angeliki Adamopoulou joins SYRIZA

The former Member of Parliament of MeRA25 joins SYRIZA, Angeliki Adamopoulou which had become independent from the party of Yanis Varoufakis.

She met at noon on Tuesday with Alexis Tsipras at the party’s offices in Koumoundourou and agreed to join the main opposition party.

As the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, wrote: “Angeliki Adamopoulou joins our common effort to bring political change and justice everywhere an hour earlier. Welcome, Angeliki, to the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance!”.

The Member of Parliament A’ of Athens who was elected on MeRA 25 left the party founded by Yannis Varoufakis on March 8, even criticizing authoritarian behavior.

As she had pointed out in its letter of independence, MeRA25 is “internally transforming from a multi-collective and polyphonic collective into a closed club of elites. Unfortunately, the leadership of MeRA25 itself and certain members of its staff try to impose themselves daily, authoritarian and arbitrarily, without dialogue and without procedures”.

It should be noted that in recent times, Angeliki Adamopoulou had registered a strong parliamentary presence, submitting questions concerning a series of issues such as the extension of the Metro to Exarchia, requests from collective bodies, but also the problems in a school building in Heraklion, Crete. A theme that coincides with the rumor that Angeliki Adamopoulou wishes to become a citizen either in the region in which she was elected, or in Crete.

Comment of the MeRA25 press representative about Angeliki Adamopoulou

“As we pointed out from the beginning, the real reasons for Mrs. Adamopoulou’s departure were her personal political “butthole” in order to compose herself with the meter of the genre and to shed her anti-memorial past. We wish her good luck in her new systemic party”, commented Michalis Kritharidis with his harsh post.
