Greece sends another shipload of humanitarian aid to Türkiye
The humanitarian aid mobilization for earthquake victims in Türkiye, which was initiated across Greece, continues.
The ship carrying humanitarian aid departed from Patra on Friday.
Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Katsaniotis, who coordinated the efforts to send the humanitarian aid collected to Türkiye and Syria within the framework of the nationwide campaign, made a statement at the port of Patra on Friday morning.
According to the news in AMNA, four 50-tonne containers consisting of basic needs were loaded on the ship and sent to Türkiye.
"This aid is only a part of the humanitarian aid we have sent," said Katsaniotis, adding that Greece launched an aid mobilization after the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria. Katsaniotis said, "We want the aid to be delivered to Türkiye in a coordinated manner. There is a need for this. This is what we do," said Katsaniotis, adding that more humanitarian aid will be sent from Patra port and Athens.
Western Greece Regional Secretary General Nektarios Farmakis said in a statement from the port of Patra, "As a regional authority, as a local administration, it is very important that we help the initiative of the state. We are glad that our people support the campaigns. A very good example of solidarity is being exhibited. We are also participating in this great campaign. We support.”
