Greece extends visa-on-arrival program for Turkish tourists

Greece has initiated efforts to extend the duration of its Express Visa - Visa-on-Arrival program, initially introduced to attract tourists from Türkiye, particularly those without Schengen visas, to the Aegean islands.

The program, launched on March 29, 2025, resulted in a significant 25-30% increase in Turkish tourists visiting the islands. Following its success, authorities are working to extend the program, which was previously scheduled to end in November, for a longer period next year.

Under the current system, the visas are valid for a maximum of 7 days. Regional Governor Kostas Moutzouris reportedly assured that the government has accepted the proposal and will submit it promptly to the European Union for approval.

This initiative aims to bolster tourism between Türkiye and Greece, particularly in the Aegean region, by providing a more accessible travel option for Turkish visitors.
