Greece approves €650 million purchase of Israeli rocket systems

The Parliament has approved the acquisition of 36 Israeli-made PULS rocket artillery systems in a deal worth around 650 million euros ($758 million), officials confirmed Thursday.

The purchase, endorsed during a closed parliamentary defense committee session, will significantly expand Greece’s long-range strike capabilities, with the systems reaching ranges of up to 300 kilometers.

Produced by Israel’s Elbit Systems, the PULS launchers will bolster defenses along Greece’s northeastern border with Türkiye and its Aegean islands. Parts of the systems will be manufactured in Greece under the agreement.

The procurement is part of a broader 28-billion-euro military modernization program through 2036, aimed at maintaining stability amid ongoing tensions with Türkiye.

Several European countries—including the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany—have also recently adopted the PULS platform.

The deal further deepens defense cooperation between Greece and Israel, which are also discussing a separate 3-billion-euro missile defense program.
