A new funding initiative aims to support existing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, focusing on research and innovation investment projects aligned with the RIS3 strategic priorities.

A new funding initiative aims to support existing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, focusing on research and innovation investment projects aligned with the RIS3 strategic priorities.

Eligible Sectors
The initiative supports investment plans in research and innovation within the following priority sectors:

  • Materials
  • Construction and Industry
  • Agri-Food Chain
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Digital Technologies (ICT), including ICT applications in Tourism, Culture, and Creative Industries

Eligible Beneficiaries
The funding program is open to existing very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises that use either a simplified or double-entry accounting system (keeping B' or C' category books). Eligible companies must have completed at least two full financial years before the application submission date.

Implementation Timeline
The duration for implementing approved projects is up to 36 months from the date of the funding decision.

Funding and Budget
The total public funding allocated for the initiative amounts to €8 million, with each eligible project receiving a subsidy ranging from €100,000 to €300,000.

Eligible Expenses
The program covers the following categories of expenses:

Personnel Costs: Salaries for researchers and technicians directly involved in the project (up to 70% of the subsidized budget).
Equipment, Transport Means & Instruments: Expenses for the purchase of instruments and equipment used in the project (up to 30% of the subsidized budget).
Service Procurement Costs: Costs for outsourced research contracts with individuals or legal entities (up to 40% of the subsidized budget).
Indirect Costs: A mandatory category, calculated at 7% of eligible direct costs.
This initiative seeks to boost innovation and competitiveness among SMEs in the region, supporting their growth through strategic investments in research and technology.
