Erdogan alert in Greece!
Panathinaikos and Olympiacos' matches may be cancelled due to security measures ahead of Turkish President Erdoğan's visit to Greece in December.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pay an official visit to Greece in December. In addition to bilateral and regional issues, one of the most important agenda items will be the situation in Gaza.
It is learnt that before the meeting, the Greek Police applied to the federation with a request to postpone the matches the day before within the framework of security measures.
The Greek Police have requested to change the date of the Cup match between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos. The police communicated this request through a letter to the Greek Football Federation due to increased security measures in Athens.
We would like to remind you that this match in the round of 16 of the Greek Cup is scheduled for Wednesday 6 December. However, this date coincides with the anniversary of the murder of Alexandros Grigoropoulos. At the same time, the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the Greek-Turkish High Cooperation Council is expected on 7 December.
WILL THE MATCHES BE POSTPONED?
After the recent events, all eyes turned to the Greek League. AEK-Panathinaikos and Kifisias-Olympiakos are scheduled to play in Athens in December. If the federation responds positively to the request, the matches of the two strong teams of Greece will be postponed.
MITSOTAKIS HAD INVITED ERDOGAN
Recently, Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis stated that he would like to host Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Greece in December to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, saying: "I completely disagree with his comments on Hamas. But this is not a reason not to host President Erdoğan in Greece."
Mr Mitsotakis said that Europe and Türkiye have a common interest in preventing an escalation of the conflict in Gaza.
