Eastern Macedonia and Thrace showcased at National Geographic Traveller Food Festival in London
The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace made its debut appearance at the prestigious National Geographic Traveller Food Festival, held in London on July 19–20. The event offered a unique opportunity to present the region’s rich culinary heritage to an international audience.
The region’s participation was made possible through an official invitation from the festival’s organizing committee. The delegation to London was led by Panayotis Arhontis, Deputy Governor for Tourism. Throughout the festival, visitors were treated to a curated selection of local delicacies spanning the area from Drama to Evros (Meriç).
Thousands of attendees had the chance to taste and enjoy traditional products such as:
- Olives and extra virgin olive oil
- Honey
- Traditional sweets
- Regional foods and beverages
The Eastern Macedonia and Thrace stand drew significant attention and praise from both festivalgoers and culinary professionals.
In an official statement, the regional government announced that the region has already received an invitation to participate in the next edition of the festival. The statement also emphasized the region’s ongoing efforts to promote its international image, noting that the next stop will be the TOUR NATUR 2025 Alternative Tourism Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, at the end of August.
This participation marks a step forward in showcasing Eastern Macedonia and Thrace’s identity as a destination of authentic flavors, culture, and sustainable tourism.
