Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace promotes its tourism at London’s World Travel Market
The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) had a strong presence at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London — one of the world’s largest annual tourism exhibitions — held from November 4 to 6, 2025.
Led by Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Panagiotis Archontis, the region’s tourism team showcased the diverse tourism offerings and rich cultural heritage of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in collaboration with municipal representatives, hotel associations, and travel agents.
During the exhibition, the delegation held numerous meetings with international tourism stakeholders and airlines. A key highlight was the meeting with Jet2, which expressed a positive interest in launching direct flights from the UK to destinations in the region by 2027.
Recently awarded “Europe’s Leading Emerging Destination” at the World Travel Awards 2025, the region attracted increased attention from both visitors and professionals.
The Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, also visited the EMT booth, where she was briefed on the region’s participation and upcoming initiatives.
As part of its ongoing tourism promotion strategy, the region will next participate in the “Philoxenia” tourism exhibition in Thessaloniki and the International Tourism Fair in Warsaw, aiming to strengthen ties with the Polish market.
