Targeted meetings of East Macedonia and Thrace with low-cost Airlines

The Region of East Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) participated in the major international tourism exhibition, WTM London 2024, held from November 5-8. As Greece was the guest country this year, the event provided even more opportunities for partnerships in the tourism sector.

During the exhibition, the Deputy Regional Governor of Tourism, Mr. Panagiotis Archontis, and the Deputy Regional Governor of Finance, Culture, and Volunteering, Ms. Fani Bacharidou, represented EMT, actively engaging in meetings with tourism stakeholders. Their efforts focused on promoting EMT and making positive impressions among international tourism professionals.

One of the main goals of their presence was to establish initial contacts with low-cost airlines to encourage them to add EMT’s two airports to their flight routes as soon as possible. According to Mr. Archontis, they have created an approach plan to attract these airlines.

The EMT delegation will continue its tourism outreach efforts with upcoming events at the Philoxenia exhibition in Thessaloniki, a tourism B2B meeting in Poland, another in Frankfurt, and will conclude the year with a large B2B event at the Zappeion in mid-December.
