Today, 25 March National Independence Day was celebrated in Greece. The celebrations started with religious services organised in churches across the country in the morning.

After the services in the churches, people went to the monuments in the cities and district centres. Wreaths were laid at the monuments by MPs, state and provincial leaders, provincial representatives, mayors, police, asketi, educational and religious representatives and representatives of non-governmental organisations.

Afterwards, a minute of silence was observed and then the Greek National Anthem was sung.

The programme continued in the ceremony area. After the politicians, police, military, religious leaders and other guests took their places in the protocol, the parades started.

As in other cities of Greece, similar programmes were organised in Xanthi and Komotini to celebrate 25 March Independence Day.

The New Democracy Party government was represented by Stavros Keletsis, Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food, while the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini was represented by Vice Consul Baris Çulha.
