More than 220 people have been detained following clashes that erupted in Athens and Thessaloniki after demonstrations marking the second anniversary of the Tempi train disaster, which claimed 57 lives.
More than 220 people have been detained following clashes that erupted in Athens and Thessaloniki after demonstrations marking the second anniversary of the Tempi train disaster, which claimed 57 lives.
Skirmishes between police and some groups continued into the evening hours after the protests. Authorities reported that over 220 individuals involved in the incidents were taken into custody.
Among those detained, 73 people were reportedly arrested. The clashes resulted in injuries to 29 police officers and 34 civilians. Additionally, in Thessaloniki, a 13-year-old child was detained for allegedly carrying a Molotov cocktail, and the child's mother was also taken into custody on charges of "child neglect."
