20 dead by West Nile Virus in Greece
It was reported that 20 people died in Greece this year due to West Nile Virus. It was announced that the virus was detected especially in Kardiça, Larissa, Trikala, Imathia, Thessaloniki, Pela, Pieria, Kilkis, Serres, Halkidiki, Kavala, Drama, Rhodope, Xanthi, Evros, Kastoria, Arta and Ioannina regions.
In a statement made by the Greek National Public Health Authority (EODY), it was stated that the virus caused the death of 20 people in different parts of the country.
In the statement, it was noted that 5 new cases were diagnosed in the last week and the importance of personal protection against mosquitoes was emphasised.
It was stated that the virus was detected especially in Cardica, Larissa, Trikala, Imathia, Thessaloniki, Pela, Pieria, Kilkis, Serres, Halkidiki, Kavala, Drama, Rhodope, Xanthi, Evros, Kastoria, Arta and Ioannina regions. Experts assessed that the cases will increase.
