SMEs call for implementation of EU directive to raise Tax-Free threshold
The Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) is calling for the immediate implementation of the European Directive that raises the tax-free threshold for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from €10,000 to €85,000.
Speaking to ERT Komotini, the president of the Drama Trade Association and vice-president of ESEE, Giorgos Kyrtsis, emphasized that memoranda have already been submitted to the competent authorities, and businesses are now awaiting the government’s decision.
“If the threshold is raised to €85,000 instead of €30,000 as the government currently plans, it would provide us with significant financial relief and allow us to better withstand the intense competition posed by Asian platforms,” Kyrtsis underlined.
Meanwhile, the president of the Gümülcine Trade Association and secretary of the Thrace Trade Federation, Kyriaki Konstantinidou, urged the government to establish a protected, non-seizable bank account for businesses and to abolish the so-called “professional levy.”
