Regional Governor Topsidis: "Integrated Area Investments" are a development tool for our Region
The Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Hristodoulos Topsidis, emphasized the importance of securing additional resources for Integrated Area Investments (OXE) during two consecutive meetings held in Komotini on December 4, 2024. These meetings focused on the strategies for OXE at the regional level and the Sustainable Urban Development Plan (SBAA), as well as projects such as the "Egnatia Road Cultural and Tourist Route."
Topsidis highlighted that the effective allocation of resources and the strategic use of funds would significantly improve the region's economy and society. "Our efforts must be collective, so that we can deliver measurable results to the community through the strategies we implement. Our common goal is to serve the citizens," he stated.
The meetings were attended by various stakeholders, including mayors from Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, regional and local government officials, and representatives from the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Development Agency (MOD), EETAA, and the Ministry of Culture's Executive Unit.
The program also included a briefing by Panayotis Koudoumakis, President of the PAAMTH Executive Agency, regarding the OXE strategies under the 2021-2027 "Eastern Macedonia and Thrace" Regional Operational Program.
The program for 2021-2027 includes funding for several key projects, such as:
Integrated Area Investments (OXE) - Sustainable Urban Development (SBA): Six projects will be implemented in Alexandroupoli, Drama, Kavala, Komotini, Xanthi, and Orestiada.
Integrated Area Investments: The Egnatia Road Cultural and Tourist Route, which began during the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Program, will continue into the 2021-2027 period. This project aims to help the region develop a new identity and become an internationally recognized tourist destination.
