Bağlar magazine releases its 12th issue with a powerful Balkans dossier.

In its new issue, Bağlar invites readers to rethink the journey of the Turkish language in the Balkans through an in-depth and reflective perspective. The dossier traces the marks of love for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—one of the most influential elements in transforming Turkish into a language of the heart across the region.

The issue examines the literary, cultural, and social atmospheres shaped around this devotion in the Balkans and meets readers with Erdem Bayazıt’s poem “Aşk Risalesi” (Treatise of Love) on its cover.

In the main dossier, the deep affection for the Prophet Muhammad is explored through investigative texts that reveal how it has permeated the language, literature, and everyday life of Balkan societies. From mevlids and naats to tekke literature and folk expressions, the dossier presents a broad framework illustrating how prophetic love influenced Turkish in the Balkans through poems, essays, and critical studies. With this issue, Bağlar once again highlights the grandeur of a shared memory and spiritual bond passed down through generations.

The magazine’s second dossier focuses on modern Balkan literature, revisiting themes of belonging, memory, family, and resilience in fragmented geographies through the works of pioneering and innovative figures such as Ivo Andrić, Meša Selimović, Luan Starova, and Semezdin Mehmedinović. This section underscores literature’s unique capacity to understand the Balkans’ multi-layered soul.

Enriched by short stories, poems, and essays from 38 writers across 8 different countries, the 12th issue of Bağlar brings back into focus the distinctive flavor of Turkish in the Balkans—ranging from verses written for the Prophet to contemporary literary debates.

In this issue as well, Bağlar continues to build a shared intellectual and emotional climate by drawing on the unifying power of language and literature.
