The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has reported that the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza, lasting for over 11 months, have severely impacted the local population's ability to access food, with people managing to eat just one meal every two days on average.

According to UNRWA, nearly 2 million people have been displaced by the attacks, and 83% of the necessary food aid has been unable to reach the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian organizations, such as the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), warn of worsening conditions, with severe food shortages.

To mitigate the effects of malnutrition, UNRWA and its partners have been distributing high-energy biscuits to children.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to escalate, with many lacking access to essential resources like food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and shelter. Reports from Gaza's government media office indicate that 36 people have died from hunger, and 3,500 children are at risk of death due to malnutrition.

The region remains the worst-hit in the Global Food Crisis Report, with the UN’s Food Rights Special Rapporteur Michael Fakhri accusing Israel of conducting a "hunger campaign." By December 2023, Palestinians in Gaza made up 80% of those facing famine globally.

Since October 7, Israeli attacks have killed 41,272 Palestinians, including 16,795 children and 11,378 women, with over 95,000 injured. Many civilians remain trapped under rubble, and vital infrastructure like hospitals and schools has been destroyed.
