Poll shows majority of Americans favor ending Iran war early

Most Americans believe the United States should end its involvement in the Iran conflict quickly, even if it does not achieve all of its objectives, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The survey found that 66% of respondents support a rapid withdrawal, while 27% favor continuing the war until U.S. goals are fully met.

Among Republicans, opinion is more divided, with 40% supporting a quick exit and 57% backing a longer military effort.

The conflict, now in its second month, has spread across the Middle East, causing heavy casualties and contributing to rising global energy prices and inflation concerns.

In the U.S., 60% of respondents said they disapprove of military strikes on Iran, compared to 35% who support them.

Fuel prices have also surged, with gasoline rising above $4 per gallon for the first time in over three years. Two-thirds of Americans expect prices to increase further in the coming year.

More than half of those surveyed said the conflict will negatively impact their personal finances.

The poll comes ahead of November’s midterm elections, when Republicans will seek to maintain their narrow majorities in Congress.
