Zeybek calls for support as downy mildew damages vineyards in İskeçe

Independent MP Hüseyin Zeybek has submitted a parliamentary question urging the Greek government to provide immediate support to grape growers in the regional unit of İskeçe following extensive damage caused by downy mildew.

Addressing the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Zeybek said vineyard owners have suffered significant production losses due to the widespread fungal disease, threatening both this year's harvest and the local economy.

He called on the government to carry out rapid damage assessments through the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organization (ELGA), ensure fair compensation for affected producers and introduce additional measures to support the region's wine-growing sector.

According to Zeybek, timely intervention is essential to protect farmers' livelihoods and maintain agricultural production in one of the area's key economic sectors.
