Xanthi: Increase in gasoline thefts from parked motorbikes

In recent weeks, Xanthi has seen a rise in incidents of gasoline theft from parked motorbikes and vehicles. Thieves take advantage of the easy access to the fuel tanks of motorcycles, which often lack sufficient security systems.

The method is both simple and effective: they cut the hose connecting the fuel tank to the fuel pump and collect the gasoline in their own containers. This practice not only leaves vehicle owners without fuel but often results in leaks, increasing the risk of fire.

With the high prices of fuel, gasoline theft has become a "profitable business" for perpetrators, causing frustration among local residents who are urging for better policing in the area.

Residents are calling on the authorities to take immediate action to address the issue of rising crime and to strengthen security measures to ensure the safety of the community.
