Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association Women’s Branch pays courtesy visit to Consul General Aykut Ünal in Gümülcine
The Women’s Branch of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA) paid a courtesy visit to Türkiye’s Consul General in Gümülcine, Aykut Ünal, following the election of its new leadership.
The delegation, composed of newly elected board and audit committee members, was led by Women’s Branch President Gizem Besim. The visit took place on February 26, shortly after internal elections were held on February 18 to appoint the association’s new administration.
Focus on Community Engagement
According to a statement shared via the official social media account of the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini, the newly appointed Women’s Branch leadership was received at the Consulate.
“The new Women’s Branch board of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association was our guest today. We wish the board members success in their work,” the Consulate’s post read.
In a separate statement, WTMUGA confirmed that the visit was conducted as a formal courtesy call to Consul General Ünal.

WTMUGA represents members of the Turkish Muslim minority in Western Thrace, focusing on educational, cultural, and social initiatives within the community.
