Union of School Boards expresses solidarity following fire at Aşağıköy Minority Primary School

In its statement, the Union conveyed its well wishes to the residents of Aşağıköy, expressing deep regret over the incident. According to the information received, the fire occurred late at night and completely destroyed the school building, which is located within the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Maronya.
The Union noted that the cause of the fire remains unknown. However, they emphasized that the absence of casualties is a source of consolation, especially given that the school has been closed for nearly four years.
“Our Aşağıköy Minority Primary School, which has educated many generations, has unfortunately been lost to the flames. While we grieve for the loss of a symbolic institution, we are thankful that the fire occurred during the night when no one was present, preventing any loss of life. We extend our heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to the people of Aşağıköy,” the statement read.
