Celâl Bayar Minority Secondary School and High School took part in the 4th Online Student Mathematics Festival organised by the Hellenic Association for Science and Technology on 17-18 April 2024 with the slogan "Mathematics is Everywhere".

Within the scope of this motto, a group of students from middle and high school classes participated in online maths competitions. Within the scope of the festival, high school 3 students, under the supervision of Mathematics teacher Birsel Mustafa, presented the examples they chose from the areas where mathematics is used in life to teachers and students.

The festival started with Birsel Mustafa's opening speech and brief information about the role of mathematics in life: "When we can explain this abstract subject by making it as concrete as possible, that is, when we can combine the mathematics taught in the lesson with the mathematics in life, we can talk about a permanent learning in mathematics.

When mathematics is taught from such a perspective, prejudices will be broken down and it will undoubtedly become a lesson that students love.

Because mathematics is not a course independent from life, it is a course that is intertwined with life." He emphasised. After the speech, the presentation of the students started. Activities presented by students at the 4th Student Maths Festival:

1) Pythagoras' Cup of Justice

2) Leonardo Da Vinci Bridge

3) Why are manhole covers round?

4) Pythagorean Theorem

5) Napier's Bones

6) Golden Ratio

7) Vitrivius Adam

8) Hanoi Towers

9) Materials Made with 3D Printer

10) Images

11) Maths Games

The purpose and messages of the students in presenting these activities:

- Mathematics is much more than a subject taught at school. Maths is life.

- Mathematics means finding clues in nature.

- Mathematics is a science that gives us different perspectives and improves our ability to evaluate events.

- While we were questioning what mathematics would be useful for us in real life, now we know that mathematics is life itself.

While explaining the importance of mathematics in daily life, our students did not only stay in theory, but also made the presence of mathematics in daily life fun and permanent by presenting the inventions of famous mathematicians with activities.

School Principal Tunalp Memet and Deputy Principal Eleni Hadji, who watched the festival, wished for the continuation of such events and promised all kinds of support.
