Trial of attack on Quran and mosque in Ilıca postponed
The case of the 64-year-old French citizen who attacked the mosque of Ilıca village and ripped the Qur'an, was discussed on Monday 19th June.
The lawyer of the accused said that the fingerprint report has not yet been received from the police units and asked for the case to be postponed. Thereupon, the presiding judge decided to adjourn the case to July 4th 2023.
It was stated that the trial was postponed upon the request of the defendant's lawyer, that the accused was involved in other crimes, according to the news in the media, apart from the mosque attack, so his pretrial detention is expected.
Xanthi Mufti Mustafa Trampa, Mustafçova Mayor Rıdvan Delihüseyin, Xanthi Deputy Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu, Ilıca Foundation Committee members, Xanthi Mufti clergy and relatives attended the court.
