Authorities have extended the temporary traffic regulation on the highway connecting Gümülcine and the Yanıköy (Makaza) border crossing, citing ongoing road maintenance and repair works.

According to a statement by the Rhodope Police Directorate, the regulation will remain in effect from May 5 through May 29, 2026. The measures apply to both directions of traffic along the route between the Kalfa junction and the Yanıköy junction.

Drivers traveling through the affected corridor are advised to follow temporary traffic signage and exercise caution due to changing road conditions.

The maintenance works are being carried out under the supervision of Egnatia Odos S.A., which is responsible for major road infrastructure projects in the region.

Officials emphasized that the temporary measures are necessary to ensure safety and improve long-term road conditions along this key cross-border route.
