Traffic fines to 1,739 people in 7 days

The Greek Police Department has published statistics on weekly traffic checks.
Between 2-8 October, it was announced that 108,668 drivers were checked across the country. It was stated that 24,255 violations were detected during the controls and fines were issued for the violations.
The Police Department announced that strict traffic controls will to be carried out at the same pace.
According to the data shared with the public, it was recorded that in the 7 day period, during the controls made in the Thrace Region of East Macedonia, traffic fines were issued to 1,739 people.
It was announced that most of the traffic fines were given for speeding, parking in the wrong place and driving without a license.
The top five regions with the highest number of violations were listed as follows: 3,986 Attica, 2,982 Thessaly, 2,648 Western Greece, 2,245 Crete islands, 1,971 Central Macedonia.
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region ranked seventh with 1,739 violations.
During the 7 day controls across the country, most violations were about wrong and prohibited parking. According to the data, the top 5 violations were listed as follows: 7,551 forbidden parking, 5,674 excessive speed, 1,459 driving without a license, 1,035 not wearing a seat belt, 994 not wearing a protective helmet.
