TİKA President Abdullah Eren honors Dr. Sadık Ahmet on 30th anniversary of his passing
President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Abdullah Eren, released a heartfelt message commemorating Dr. Sadık Ahmet, a legendary figure in the Turkish Minority’s struggle for rights in Western Thrace, on the 30th anniversary of his death.
In his message, Eren praised Dr. Sadık Ahmet as a “flag-bearing leader of Western Thrace’s Turks” and emphasized his lasting impact:
“We remember Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the emblematic leader of Western Thrace’s Turkish community, with deep longing on the 30th anniversary of his passing.
His indomitable spirit, tireless advocacy for minority rights, and determination to defend Turkish identity on every platform have immortalized him in our hearts.
‘Uncle Sadık’ led vital efforts for bilingual schools, meeting teacher shortages, securing autonomy for religious foundations (vakıfs), safeguarding religious freedoms, and ensuring political representation.
His resolute stance against the criminalization of Turkish identity remains a shining example for us all.”
Eren concluded his message by offering prayers and gratitude:
“We remember Dr. Sadık Ahmet, who passed away on July 24, 1995, with mercy and appreciation. May his resting place be in paradise.”
