They demand repeat elections in Dimetoka Municipality
Dimetoka Municipality list, headed by Hristos Tokamanis, brought the case against Romilios Haciyanoglou to the Supreme Court of Greece.
According to Evros-news.gr, it was noted that a meeting was held with the participation of all Tokamanis list members to examine the situation following the decision of the Alexandroupolis Electoral Court.
It was stated that two legal consultants dealing with the case from Thessaloniki and Dedeağaç also attended the meeting.
It is said that it was decided that all list members who attended the meeting held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, would appeal to the Supreme Court within the period specified by the law.
In the objection, it is requested to cancel the election results of Dimetoka Municipality and repeat the elections, especially by referring to the decision of the Alexandroupoli Electoral Court, which annulled the elections of two municipal council members named Athanasios Kaptsika and Tasos Keskini.
It is argued that the candidacy should be dropped because Kaptsika was an officer in the Greek Armed Forces at the time of the elections (active soldiers cannot be candidates) and Keskinis had commercial transactions with the Dimetoka municipality.
In the October 8 elections, Kapsikas was elected with 497 votes and Keskinis with 453 votes.
It is requested that the candidacies of the two candidates, who helped Haciynoğlou win the municipal elections with a difference of only 60 votes, due to the votes received by two people whose candidacies were illegal, be dropped as candidates illegally and therefore the municipal elections be repeated.
On the other hand, Haciyanoğlu stated that the decision of the election court regarding the election results is valid and therefore he is not worried about the decision of the Supreme Court.
