Ten new health centers to be established in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Hristodoulos Topsidis, Governor of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, has announced the establishment of 10 new local health units and the renovation of existing health centers across the region, with both projects to be co-financed by European Union funds.
These initiatives aim to strengthen regional healthcare services as part of a broader strategy to improve primary healthcare infrastructure.
Project Details:
- Construction of New Health Centers
- Funded through the EU Structural Funds (ESPA) 2021–2027 program
- Total budget: €5.3 million
- Implemented under the framework of the 4th Health District’s planning
- Will include the creation and operation of 10 new local health units throughout the region
- Renovation and Modernization of Existing Facilities
Budget: €1.5 million, also from ESPA 2021–2027
Includes upgrades in Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Komotini, Alexandroupoli, and the towns of Sarışaban, Yeniköy, Bulustra, Yassıköy, Şapçı, Soufli, and Kumçiftliği
Governor Topsidis emphasized:
“Through ESPA funds, we are prioritizing support for the health sector and reinforcing primary care services. Our goal is to ensure that citizens receive quality healthcare close to where they live.”
Both projects are part of the region's broader vision for sustainable development and improved living standards through enhanced healthcare access.
