Strategic investment of 877 MW by thermoelectric Komotini in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
A strategic partnership was solidified during a working meeting between Alexandros Iosifidis, Thematic Deputy Governor for Development, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Social Economy of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and Evangelos Papadimitriou, General Manager of Thermoelectric Komotini S.A., accompanied by Director Konstantinos Pharmakis. The meeting took place at the company's facilities in the Komotini industrial area.
Thermoelectric Komotini S.A., co-owned by GEK TERNA Group and Motor Oil Group, is developing a state-of-the-art 877 MW natural gas-powered electricity generation plant. This €375 million project employs cutting-edge combined-cycle technology, characterized by high energy efficiency and low emissions, aligning with sustainability principles and Greece's energy transition strategy.
The plant will serve as a vital energy pillar for Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, enhancing regional development and national energy security. Its advanced technical and environmental standards contribute to the local economy by creating jobs during construction and operation and fostering collaboration with regional stakeholders.
