Prominent journalist Süleyman Sefer Cihan passes away
Süleyman Sefer Cihan, a journalist who dedicated his life to advocating for the rights of the Turkish community in Western Thrace, has passed away. He died on November 1, 2024.
Cihan’s funeral will take place today, with services held at the Western Thrace Mosque in Zeytinburnu, where he resided in Türkiye.
For many years, Süleyman Sefer Cihan was the publisher of the "Yeni Batı Trakya Dergisi," using his platform to highlight the struggles and legitimate causes of the Western Thrace Turks through his writings.
Originally from the village of Şahin in İskeçe, Süleyman Sefer Cihan is mourned by the Millet Newspaper, which extends condolences to his family and loved ones.
In light of his passing, the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association's Zeytinburnu branch issued a message of condolence stating:
"The journalist Süleyman Sefer Cihan, owner of the 'Yeni Batı Trakya Dergisi' and a dedicated advocate for the Western Thrace cause, has passed away. His funeral will be held on November 2, 2024, after the afternoon prayer at the Western Thrace Mosque. We wish for Allah's mercy on the deceased and extend our condolences and patience to his family and loved ones."
