A total of 24 migrants entering Greece illegally through the borders with Turkiye at Evros were found in two separate incidents by Alexandroupolis police between New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Police said on Tuesday that a foreign human trafficker was arrested after police at the border control of Kipoi found the migrants in a trailer attached to the truck he was driving. Authorities located 18 migrants by use of technology that detects heartbeats.

On New Year's Day, a second human trafficker was arrested on Egnatia highway between Kipoi and Alexandroupolis after transporting 6 migrants in a private vehicle.

Both traffickers arrested will appear before prosecutors, while their two vehicles and cellphones were confiscated.
