PASOK Party leadership candidate Doukas visits Rodopi Unit Office
After completing his meetings in Xanthi, Doukas arrived in Komotini on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
At the Rodopi Unit Office, Doukas was greeted by Deputy Regional Governor of Rodopi, Emanuil Tapacas, in the old provincial government building. The meeting was also attended by Regional Vice President Efkarpidis Nikolaos and Regional Council Member Ahmet Osman Pehlivan.
In his welcoming remarks, Tapacas expressed gratitude to Doukas for the visit, noting the candidate’s support for the strength and proximity of local governments to citizens. He highlighted the challenges local governments face, particularly regarding staff shortages and the impact of the climate crisis. Tapacas emphasized the need for local administrations to reinforce citizens' trust and offer specific initiatives to address daily life issues and promote regional development.
Doukas, in turn, thanked Tapacas for the warm reception and detailed briefing on the Rodopi Unit's development projects and issues facing the region. He reaffirmed the necessity of strengthening local governance and ensuring its autonomy, sharing these priorities as part of his campaign for PASOK leadership.
The visit concluded with Tapacas wishing Doukas success in the upcoming PASOK leadership elections, scheduled for October 6.
