Özgür Ferhat pays condolence visit to Gebecili: “We are at a loss for words”
A devastating fire that claimed the life of a 7-year-old child in the village of Gebecili, part of the Iasmos (Yassıköy) municipality in the Rodopi regional unit, has caused deep sorrow across the area.
Following the tragic incident, Rodopi Member of Parliament Özgür Ferhat visited the village to offer condolences to the affected family. Ferhat inspected the completely burned house and the room where the child lost their life, describing the pain caused by the tragedy as indescribable.
He stated that no words could ease the profound grief experienced by the family, particularly by the family elder, Salih, emphasizing that the incident was a heartbreaking human tragedy.
In a statement after the visit, Ferhat said:
“As human beings, when we are left helpless, we take refuge in Almighty God. I pray that such tragedies never happen again.”
He stressed that the incident should not be viewed through a political lens but as a purely humanitarian issue, underlining the importance of sharing grief and standing in solidarity as a society.
Ferhat extended his prayers for mercy for the young child who lost their life, expressed his condolences and wishes for patience to the bereaved family, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured family members. Concluding his remarks, he said, “We are at a loss for words.”
