Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın visits Komotini
Bursa Osmangazi Mayor Erkan Aydın and his delegation paid an official visit to Komotini (Gümülcine), where they conducted a series of meetings with local leaders and institutions.
The visit began with a stop at Kozlukebir Municipality, which has a sister city agreement with Osmangazi. The delegation was welcomed by Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, who later shared:
“During our discussions, we set a goal to elevate the cooperation between our municipalities to the highest level. I extend my sincere thanks to Mayor Aydın and the entire delegation for this kind visit.”
Meetings with Key Figures in Western Thrace
Following this, Mayor Aydın and his delegation met with Turkey’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, at the consulate. They also visited the grave of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the founder of the Friendship, Equality, and Peace Party (DEB) and an independent MP, where they offered prayers in his memory.
The delegation paid a visit to Komotini Mufti İbrahim Şerif at his office before heading to the Komotini Turkish Youth Union, where they met with its president, Sedat Hasan. The delegation also took time to explore Komotini’s city center and bazaar.

Mayor Aydın was accompanied by:
- Hasan Karaömer, President of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association Bursa Branch,
- İsmail Hayat, a Western Thrace-origin Osmangazi Municipal Council Member,
- Zekeriya Kolat, a pharmacist.
The visit aimed to strengthen cultural and municipal ties between Osmangazi and Western Thrace, fostering further collaboration in the future.
