New vascular ultrasound (triplex) service launched at Dedeağaç Hospital
With this new service, patients now have access to advanced, non-invasive vascular imaging examinations, strengthening diagnostic capabilities in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and improving access to specialized healthcare in Northern Greece.
One of Only Three Certified Units Nationwide
The Vascular Ultrasound Unit operating at UGHA is one of only three nationally certified units approved by the Greek Ministry of Health for the training of vascular surgeons in vascular ultrasound techniques, and notably, the only such certified unit in Northern Greece.
This distinction underscores the hospital’s role as a regional and national reference center for vascular diagnostics and medical education.
How Patients Can Access the Service
Patients can schedule vascular ultrasound (Triplex) examinations through the outpatient clinics’ secretariat, provided they have a valid electronic medical referral.
The new service aims to reduce waiting times, enhance early diagnosis, and support both outpatient and inpatient care.
Available Triplex Examinations
The following vascular ultrasound examinations are currently offered:
- Triplex ultrasound of upper and lower limb veins
- Triplex ultrasound of upper and lower limb arteries
- Triplex ultrasound of the carotid and vertebral arteries
- Triplex ultrasound of the abdominal aorta
- Triplex ultrasound of the iliac arteries
Strengthening Regional Healthcare Services
Hospital officials emphasized that the launch of this service represents a significant upgrade in diagnostic infrastructure, contributing to early detection of vascular diseases and improved patient outcomes, while also reinforcing the hospital’s academic and clinical mission.
