New Narlıköy bridge nears completion in Yassıköy
The construction of the new Narlıköy River bridge at Narlıköy (Polyanthos) in the Municipality of Yassıköy (Iasmos) is moving steadily toward completion, with the final concrete slab of the deck now finished. The milestone confirms the daily progress recorded on the project.
Rhodopi Deputy Regional Governor Manolis Tapatzas highlighted the consistent pace and quality of the work, stating: “With the systematic work of everyone involved, the project is developing with high-quality standards so that we can deliver modern and safe infrastructure.”
Construction of the new bridge began after part of the old structure collapsed in 2017. The foundations were laid in 2022, and after three years of continuous work the project has now reached its final stage. Once opened to traffic, the new bridge on the old Gümülcine-İskeçe (Komotini-Xanthi) highway is expected to significantly improve road safety and traffic flow in the area.
The delivery of the bridge is expected to take place in the near future.
