The Municipality of Myki has announced the creation of a registry for vulnerable citizens as part of its preventive civil protection measures ahead of the wildfire and flood seasons.

The initiative aims to strengthen emergency planning and ensure the organized evacuation of residents in areas at risk of natural disasters such as wildfires and floods.

According to the municipal announcement, residents who belong to vulnerable groups—including elderly citizens and persons with disabilities—and those living in high-risk zones are invited to voluntarily submit their information to be included in the registry.

The targeted areas include residential zones adjacent to forested or woodland regions, as well as neighborhoods located within designated flood-risk zones.

The municipality emphasized that the registry is designed to support rapid response coordination in the event of an emergency, enabling local authorities to identify and assist at-risk individuals more efficiently.

The measure is part of broader disaster preparedness efforts as Greece enters a period of heightened wildfire risk, particularly in rural and forest-adjacent communities.
