Mustafçova and Meriç-Subaşı Municipalities sign cooperation protocol

A cooperation protocol was signed between the Mustafçova Municipality in Xanthi, Greece, and the Meriç-Subaşı Municipality in Edirne, Türkiye.

The signing ceremony took place on December 18, 2024, at the Mustafçova Municipality building. The event was attended by Mustafçova Mayor Ahmet Kurt, Meriç-Subaşı Mayor Göksel Tüfekçi, and delegations from both municipalities.

In a statement shared on social media, Mayor Ahmet Kurt highlighted the significance of the agreement, calling it a starting point for future projects:

"This protocol is but a small reflection of the larger commitments we’ve made. Mustafçova will no longer remain a neglected mountainous region; instead, it will embrace the spirit and opportunities of the times. The brotherhood established today will pave the way for numerous collaborative projects."

The protocol emphasizes cooperation in areas such as:

Enhancing expertise in agriculture and livestock, given their prominence in both regions.
Addressing challenges of seasonal labor and migration to EU countries.
Promoting natural resources and tourism.
Leveraging EU financial instruments for regional development.
Organizing joint cultural events.
Signed in Sminthi, the agreement represents a milestone in fostering cross-border collaboration and cultural exchange between the two communities.
