Mufti of Xanthi issues a message for Eid al-Adha

Mufti Mustafa Trampa's Eid message is as follows:

Dear Muslim Turkish brothers and sisters from Western Thrace!

We are experiencing the joy and excitement of reaching Eid al-Adha, one of the unique times that Allah has bestowed on believers as a means of mercy, peace and joy.

Sacrifice is a symbol of submission, obedience, loyalty and sacrifice to Allah. It expresses getting closer to our Lord, to each other, to the good, to the truth.

May Allah Almighty grant us, as the Muslim Turkish Community in Western Thrace and the whole Islamic World, to spend this blessed Eid al-Adha in peace and tranquility, starting from the morning prayer on Saturday 15 June 2024, the eve of the feast day, until the afternoon prayer on Wednesday 19 June, the fourth day of the feast, where the Hajj worship, which is one of the five basic principles of Islam, is also performed, and where the obligation of sacrifice, which is a financial worship, is performed.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Festivals are the days when we should be the happiest and most peaceful days when our hearts are united around the commandment "Believers are only brothers and sisters" (Hujurat, 9). They are our exceptional days of joy in which our national and spiritual feelings reach the peaks, we strengthen our kinship ties, renew neighbourly relations, revitalise social life, and keep alive our values such as looking after the poor, making orphans and orphans happy, extending our helping hand to the needy and orphans, and sharing the distress with them, in Islam, which is a civilisation of the heart.

If Eid is experienced together, joys will increase, hearts will be filled with love, and if all Muslims living on earth experience the joy of Eid, it will find its true meaning. In this respect, on the occasion of Eid, let us visit our parents, family elders, relatives and neighbours to revive their hearts. Let us experience the blessings of Eid together by remembering the orphans, the elderly and the lonely.

In many parts of the world, especially in Palestine and Gaza, we cannot fully experience the joy of Eid while our Muslim brothers and sisters are being persecuted. For this reason, let us not forget our oppressed religious brothers and sisters who enter Eid under bombs, let us pray for them by feeling their pain in our hearts. May Allah end the oppression of all our oppressed religious brothers and sisters in the world as soon as possible and let them experience the joy of Eid.

Eids are a gift and honour from Allah to this Ummah. It is narrated from Anas b. Malik (r.a.) that he said: "When the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) came to Madinah, the people of Madinah had two days of entertainment." The Messenger of Allah asked, "What are these days?" The Medinans said: We have been having fun on these days since the days of ignorance. Then the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: "Surely Allah has given you two festivals which are better than those two days: Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr."

Dear Brothers and Sisters

The second duty we should perform after the Eid prayer is to sacrifice. Our Prophet (s.a.s) also did this and told his companions to do the same. It was narrated from Barâ b. Âzib (r.a.) as follows:

"I heard the Prophet giving a sermon during the Eid al-Adha prayer. He said: "The first thing we do today is to offer the Eid prayer, then return and slaughter our sacrifices. Whoever does so will be following our Sunnah."

Sacrificing a sacrifice on Eid al-Adha with the intention of worship is obligatory for a free, resident, Muslim and rich person. The obligatory sacrifice is a sign of sacrifice in the way of truth. The purpose of sacrifice, which is an expression of obedience and submission to Allah and gratitude for His blessings, is not to eat meat or to feed meat, but to be a means of approaching Allah.

Sacrifice is a financial worship with various benefits for both the individual and society. By sacrificing, a person submits to Allah's command and vividly demonstrates that he maintains his sense of servitude. In every sacrifice, the believers refresh the memory of the successful test of the Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael in absolute obedience to the command of Allah Almighty, and show by symbolic behaviour that they are ready for a similar obedience.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

One of the specialities of Eid al-Adha is that the Hajj is performed during these days. So much so that the picture of millions of Muslims from all over the world, belonging to different races and languages, coming together with the intention of performing Hajj is another magnificent scene that reveals the value of the holiday. May Allah Almighty grant and grant that our brothers and sisters who have gone to Hajj return home safely with their Hajj mubarak.

Eids are happy days when joys are shared, hearts are gladdened, resentments are reconciled and hearts are softened, relatives and neighbours are visited, orphans and orphans are made happy, guests are welcomed with smiles and treats are made. Let us utilise the days of Eid as an opportunity for the forgiveness of sins. Let's visit our elders if possible, if not, let's call them by phone and get their prayers. Let's visit relatives, neighbours and friends. Let's reconcile the resentful among us to ensure unity and solidarity. Let's keep the festive atmosphere alive with the love we will show to children. Let's make the poor and poor happy by helping them by allocating a share from the sacrifices we sacrifice. Let us remember our elders, relatives, acquaintances and all believers who have passed away.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Last week there were elections for the European Parliament. The Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace entered these elections with its own party (Friendship Equality Peace Party) and achieved great success. On this occasion, I would like to congratulate all our candidates who participated in these elections and I would like to express my gratitude for this outstanding success achieved with your support. May God perpetuate our unity and solidarity.

On this occasion, I would like to congratulate you on Eid al-Adha and I pray to Almighty Mevlâ that this blessed Eid will be conducive to unity, solidarity, peace and tranquility for the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and the entire Islamic world.
