MP Ferhat draws attention to the lack of mechanisms against fires

New Left Rhodope MP Özgür Ferhat brought the inadequacy of the mechanism against fires to the parliamentary agenda Rhodope MP Özgür Ferhat stated that the fires that occurred in 2023 caused a catastrophe to the region and the local people, that many private properties were damaged, thousands of acres of forested areas and cultivated land were destroyed, great environmental damage occurred and luckily there was no loss of life and he has been demanding the establishment of a prevention mechanism against fires in our region for months with his political work on every platform.

Reacting to the government authorities who have not taken corrective actions despite the passage of a year and left our region unprotected against new fires, MP Özgür Ferhat brought this issue, which is of great importance within the parliamentary work, to the agenda again with a parliamentary question and demanded answers from the relevant and competent ministries that will give final results.

In the parliamentary question submitted to the relevant ministries, MP Özgür Ferhat asked:

- What kind of measures have been taken against fires this year ?

- Whether the necessary assistance has been provided to the competent institutions that lack personnel and funds ?

- When will the flood prevention projects for the burnt areas of Kozlukebir, Şapçı, Komotini and Yassıköy Municipalities be realised?

- The protection projects for our burnt villages in Yaka region have been approved but not implemented?

- How the forest areas will be kept under surveillance? Whether the necessary directives have been given to the Directorate of Forestry Affairs? Which additional articles have been implemented to increase the institutional cooperation between the General Government and Local Authorities.
