Mehmet Emin Aga to be commemorated on 20th anniversary of his death
The İskeçe Mufti’s Office will hold a commemorative ceremony on September 9, 2026, to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of Mehmet Emin Aga, the late mufti of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority.
According to an announcement by the İskeçe Mufti’s Office, the memorial ceremony will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, at the Lower Neighborhood Cemetery in İskeçe.
During the ceremony, prayers will be recited for Mehmet Emin Aga, who will be remembered with respect and mercy on the 20th anniversary of his death.
The İskeçe Mufti’s Office has invited all members of the community, both women and men, to attend the commemorative event.
Mehmet Emin Aga, who served as mufti of İskeçe, was a prominent figure in the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Community and played a leading role for many years in its struggle to defend its rights.
In its announcement, the İskeçe Mufti’s Office said: “We remember our late Mufti Mehmet Emin Aga with mercy and gratitude and pray to Almighty God to grant him mercy.”
