Meeting on “struggle for rights in İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union
A consultation meeting was held on Friday, 13 January 2023, about the struggle for rights in the İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union.
In the meeting held with the participation of İskeçe Turkish Union (ITB) executives and ITB legal advisors, the fight for rights and the legal process of İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union were discussed.
At the meeting held on Friday, 13 January 2023, with the participation of İskeçe Turkish Union President Ozan Ahmetoğlu and board members, and İskeçe Turkish Union legal advisors Ahmet Kara and İlker Çavuşoğlu, the struggle for the rights of the Turkish Union was evaluated and the road map to be followed from now on was discussed.
At the meeting, it was stated that at the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers meeting held in December, the decisions of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Associations, including the İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union and known as the "Bekirusta and others Case Group", regarding the ECtHR process were welcomed.
In addition, the expression of the Turkish Union's struggle to claim rights, both at the local level and internationally, was evaluated.
In addition, it was decided to hold evaluation meetings periodically with the participation of ITB executives and legal advisors.
