Mangana Beach: Presentation of sea access system for the visually impaired to the Regional Union of the Blind of Thrace
Specific installations have been made, including blue pathways wide enough for people with disabilities (PWD) and a Seatrac system at Erasmio Beach, as well as an assistance system for the visually impaired and a floating wheelchair at Mangana Beach.
On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the President of the Regional Union of the Blind of Thrace, Mr. Boz Ersin, accompanied by Social Worker Ms. Ioanna Gano, visited Mangana Beach, where Deputy Mayor of Topeiros Ms. Smaragda Vahareli and the General Secretary of the Municipality of Topeiros Mr. Ilias Papastavrinidis presented the system to them.
During the meeting, suggestions were made for further improving the existing infrastructure to make daily life easier for the residents. It is worth mentioning the significant contribution of local businesses and lifeguards in informing the public about how these systems operate.
Additionally, the Municipality of Topeiros has submitted a proposal with a budget of approximately 140,000 euros to the State Aid Program of the Recovery and Resilience Fund titled "Improvement and Modification of Accessibility to Greek Beaches" to install additional systems for improving PWD access to the municipality's beaches.
