Man cultivating cannabis arrested in Xanthi
In the framework of special actions to combat the spread of drugs, 11 people were arrested in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
According to the press release issued by the Police Headquarters, 10 Greek citizens and 1 foreigner were arrested by the police officers of the Police Directorates of Kavala, Alexandroupoli, Xanthi, Drama and Kumçiftliği (Orestiada) in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace between 22-27 May in the framework of the activities aimed at combating the spread of drugs.
On Wednesday 22 May, Passport Police and customs officers searched a bus at Kipi Customs and seized 12.6 grams of crude cannabis and a plastic grater from the luggage of a foreign passenger. The police drug dog "Laika" also participated in the search. Laika found the drugs in the boot.
33 Indian hemp plants uprooted in Xanthi
On 27 May in Xanthi, police officers of the Xanthi Police Department arrested two people who were found to have grown 33 cannabis plants, between 4 and 95 cm high, in the courtyard of their houses in two separate incidents. During a subsequent search of the perpetrators' houses, a total of 173.9 grams of cannabis was found and confiscated.
On the other hand, police teams searched the houses of 8 suspicious persons in Alexandroupoli, Kumçiftilği, Kavala and Drama between 22-27 May. During the searches, a small amount of processed cannabis, "Bonzai" and cannabis cigarettes were seized. 8 people were detained in connection with the incident.
Eleven people arrested for producing and possessing drugs were referred to prosecutor's offices.
