Kozlukebir and Kurcali youth sustain the 'Camel' tradition
The traditional camel festival organised by the youth of the villages was held on Friday 30 June in Kozlukebir and on Saturday 1 July in Kurcalı.
The event, known as "Camel", "Camel Nights" or "Camel Festival" in Western Thrace and organised especially on festive occasions, features a representative camel made of wood and various materials.
According to tradition, the camel is guided by young people. In addition to characters such as Arab, grandfather, bride, groom, and efe, young people dressed as soldiers and doctors, accompanied by drum and zurna, visit the houses in the village and celebrate the holiday of the people. The owners of the houses give various gifts or money to the young people.
The 'Camel Festival' organised in Kozlukebir and Kurcalı ended in the evening with a musical entertainment in the village square.
