Koutsomichalis to remain Mayor of Inhanlı in 2026 replacing Michoglu
Charalambos Koutsomichalis will continue to serve as the mayor of Inhanlı Municipality at least until January 2026, following recent court developments in the case of former mayor Thomas Michoglou.
The extension of Koutsomichalis’s tenure became certain after the court session held on November 17, during which Mihoglu is being tried.
Hearing Postponed Due to Illness
Political plaintiffs requested a postponement of the hearing, citing their lawyer’s illness. Meanwhile, Michoglou’s defense demanded the lifting of the international travel ban imposed on their client — a restriction that originally led to Michoglou’s suspension from office.
The court accepted the request to postpone the hearing but rejected the defense’s demand to lift the travel ban. This decision was made despite the prosecutor’s recommendation to remove the restriction. The prosecutor had argued that there was no reason to maintain the ban, noting that both Mihoglu and his wife had duly attended the previous hearing.
New Court Date in January
With the hearing postponed to January 2026, Charalambos Koutsomichalis will continue to hold the mayoral office of Inhanlı Municipality until at least that date.
