Komotini Municipality warns citizens against fires

According to the Fire Risk Forecast Map published by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the province of Rhodope is in the 3rd category tomorrow (Tuesday 27 August).

The Municipality of Komotini made a written statement taking into account the high fire risk and invited citizens to be careful against fires.

The statement said that the favourable local conditions (topography, local winds, temperature, etc.) mean that there is a high probability of a large number of fires, many of which will be difficult to overcome.

Those who notice a fire or fires are asked to call 199 or 112 immediately and give clear information about the location of the fire, i.e. exactly where they are.

In addition, citizens were advised to avoid actions that may cause fire as a result of negligence, such as burning dry grass, branches or cleaning residues outdoors, using spark-generating machines such as saws, welding.

It was also emphasised that habits such as using grills outdoors, smoking bees and throwing burning cigarettes should be avoided.
