Işık Sadık Ahmet meets President Erdoğan during Mother's Day event in Istanbul
MOTHER'S DAY EVENT BRINGS TOGETHER PROMINENT FIGURES
Işık Sadık Ahmet, widow of the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet—leader of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace—and honorary president of the Friendship Equality Peace (DEB) Party, met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a special Mother’s Day event held in Istanbul on Sunday, 12 May 2025.
The event, titled “Strong Turkey with Strong Families,” was organized under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency and hosted by the Women’s Branch of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party). The celebration emphasized the vital role of mothers and the family unit in Turkish society.

During the gathering, Işık Sadık Ahmet had the opportunity to speak personally with President Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan. Following the event, she expressed her appreciation on social media, highlighting the honor of participating in a family-centered program that reinforces the value of motherhood and family in shaping a hopeful future.
