Helping hand from Western Thrace to Somalia
One of the sacrificial donations organized by Western Thrace Turks on the occasion of Eid al-Adha is the sacrifice campaign organized by the IHH-UK humanitarian foundation with the cooperation of Çınar Association which is a Western Thrace originated NGO. IHH-UK strives to provide humanitarian aid to people living in difficult conditions in different regions, both through the organization of sacrifice on the days of the Eid al-Adha, and through international aid campaigns at other times of the year.
This year too, IHH-UK and Çınar Association organized a sacrificial donation campaign for many regions. As last year, Ali Tahir Cambaz, the President of IHH-UK, originally from Gökçepınar (Glafki) village of İskeçe (Xanthi) living in London, went to Somalia personally and delivered the procurational sacrifices. This year, it was reported that in the IHH-UK campaign for Somalia donated 1200 sacrifices and significant amount of them were donated from Western Thrace. The Western Thracian beneficents also provided basic food supplies to 350 families for 1 month. It was also reported that this year, shirts were given to children living in difficult conditions in the camp.
